Features

Three to five foot tall perennial herb producing a yellow (golden) flower cluster at the apex of the plant in late summer/early fall. Stems coarse. Leaves coarse/scurfy alternating along the primary stem. Leaf apices are narrowly acute. Inflorescence is a panicle. Individual flowers are yellow. Perennial producing rhizomes.

Description

Common along roadsides and pastures throughout the United States. Flowers in late summer to early fall producing yellow-coated fields. While no known uses, it is considered an attractive drought tolerant wild flower.
