Features
Leaves trifoliate with distinct dark blotch or mark on upper leaf surface. Middle leaflet with short petiole stalk. Stalk of trifoliate leaf with a stipule-like leaf at base. Leaflet lightly toothed. Flowers solitary, <0.5 cm in diameter. Produces a swirling bur seed pod covered in spines.
Description
Similar to black medic, small hop clover,and large hop clover. Black medic does not have dark blotches on leaves and flowers are a cluster of yellow flowers producing a cluster of blackened seed. Small and large hop clover produces a spherical inflorescence and leaflets have no dark blotches.
