In the vegetative phase- dense lanceolate leaves pubescent at base, leaves alternate, plant rosette-like. Reproductive phase- plant bolts rapidly producing a large panicle with numerous small heads, seed contain a pappus facilitating wind dispersion, plant 4 to 6 feet tall.
Description
Tall growing annual plant common along roadsides and prior to planting crops. One of the first weeds to develop broad-scale resistance to glyphosate (Roundup).
