Features
Growth habit: Clumping, prostrate growth habit spreading by short tillers. Without seedheads, plant rarely exceeds a 6 to 10 inch height. Plant can tolerate mowing heights of 0.5 inches.; Stem: Inflorescence stems glabrous, rounded.; Leaf: Leaf and plant has a general mealy green color. Collar: Large membranous ligule up to 0.5 to 0.8 inch in length. Tuft of hairs present around the collar.; Inflorescence: Panicle with 3 to 5 branching racemes alternating 1 to 3 inches apart at the apex of the stem. Inflorescence is to three feet in height.
Description
Clumping perennial grass, producing short rhizomes/tillers that facilitate spread. Clumps of other plants can coalesce to form a dense stand. Flag-like projections of seedhead is the most distinguishing characteristic.
