Fruit a green berry enclosed in a calyx giving it a lantern type appearance. Leaves are solitary, loosely dentate, ovate, alternate. Plant glabrous throughout with a general clammy appearance. Flowers yellow in color with purple throat with five fused petals, five stamens, surrounding a single pistil.

Description

Characteristic “lantern” pod enclosing a green fruit. Berry similar to tomato (same Solanaceae family). Other characteristics similar to tomato include, a clammy appearance, single alternate leaves, and five fused petal flowers.
