Features

Small yellow flowered annual herb. Leaves opposite, linear, 1 to 4 cm in length. Stems are angular and square-shaped in cross section. Plant glabrous. Flowers are 5 petal with 5 green sepals. Petals have a pinwheel shape. Flowers occur at plant apex. Leaves are wider at base, become more linear up the plant with younger leaves.

Description

Plant develops as a small shrub about 15 to 30 cm in height that is similar to bitter sneezeweed. Primary stem arising from the ground become indistinguishable due to vertical branching and shrubby appearance. Plant is loosely rooted with a single primary tap root and few adventitious roots. Common in disturbed soil throughout the southeast. Not tolerant of mowing.
